Discover Velocean's Raja Ampat

Experience the most luxurious Dive Liveaboard in Raja Ampat

Discover Velocean's Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat National Park is located in Indonesia’s West Papua province at the center of the Coral Triangle. In Bahasa, Indonesia's official language, Raja Ampat translates to “Four Kings” and represents the four major islands of the legendary Raja Ampat dive region: Misool, Salawati, Batanta and Waigeo.

The Raja Ampat archipelago, comprises over 1,500 cays, islands and shoals, is best explored on a dive liveaboard. Remote corners are impossible to reach by day boat, so liveaboard diving is the only, and best way, to experience all that Raja Ampat has to offer. Trips to the area include dives around Salawati, Batanta, Waigeo and Misool, as well as the Dampier Strait, Penemu, Farondi and Arborek, depending on a dive trip’s duration.

Eight, nine and twelve night adventures aboard the All Star Velocean depart from Sorong in West Papua and return to the same port.

There are 3 itineraries with 8, 9 and 12 night charters offered, with up to four dives per day.

  • 8 night itinerary - average up to 28 dives including night dives.
  • 9 night itinerary - average up to 32 dives including night dives.
  • Depth Range: 11m – 40m (35 – 130 ft)
  • Water temperature averages 28º - 31°C/82º - 89°F,
  • 3mm wetsuit recommended

All dives are made from 2 custom built dive tenders.

Open Water certification with a minimum 25 logged dives is required for Raja Ampat. Note, however, that you will not be able to join all dives due to the depth of some dives (in excess of 18 m.). Advanced Open Water certification is recommended.

Raja Ampat Dive Itinerary

Sorong/Sorong 9 Night Itinerary

  • Up to 4 dives daily, including night dives
  • Visits to Arborek, My Reef, Dampier, Batanta, Penemu, Mansuar and Misool
  • Opportunities to see manta rays and huge schools of fish

The Raja Ampat itinerary combines the best dive sites of Dampier Strait, Fam, Mansuar and the awesome dive sites of Misool, the best diving area of Raja Ampat. The great highlights are the manta cleaning station near Mansuar and the huge schools of fish near Farondi.

The Dampier straight separates the Birdhead Peninsula from Waigeo and Mansuar. The name comes from the Dutch colonial times. It refers to the shape of the peninsula on the map, but it is also a paradise for many rare bird species.

Here the Philippines Sea (the South-Western corner of the North Pacific Ocean) meets the Halmahera Sea, with an explosion of marine life as consequence. With regular strong currents, big fish feel especially comfortable. Manta rays, reef sharks, different schools of mackerel, tuna and barracuda, dolphin and whales.

The night dives under the Arborek or Cape Mansuar jetty is a favorite spot with peculiar creatures such as wobbegongs, epaulette sharks (walking sharks), nudibranchs, pipefish, seahorses, frogfish, scorpion fish and the list goes on.

Misool is the South-East of the four big islands of the Raja Ampat archipelago. At the same time it is one of the most biodiverse regions in the world. The rich variety of reefs are also not to be overlooked with vertical walls, slopes, dry rocks, caves and lagoons; some covered with hard corals while the others are covered with brightly colored soft corals. Also renowned as the center of pygmy seahorses and gorgonians, everywhere you go you will be amazed by the profusion of marine life that Raja Ampat has to offer you.
